Stay tuned to learn more about this mural's theme.
This collaboration between the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Fountain House Gallery, and lead muralist Andrew Baer began in September of 2016 and continued through July of 2017. Together with the artists of Fountain House Gallery, Andrew collaged together imagery and wording that depicts an individual and collective journey with mental illness.
The mural is installed on two separate walls on 34th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues - each depicting a different perspective on the journey. On one wall, the text reads, “Some days I have to push myself just to go to the park”. The other wall reads, “Say hello! We can embrace ourselves and open doors together.” The narrative of growth is portrayed in both walls, and can be experienced up-close at the wall or from afar, looking across the street.
